JORGE pool launches "Cardano Rum" NFT

In a first we promote a highly collectible series of 200 bottles of an alcoholic spirit - artisinal rum from our home of Madeira island - on the Cardano blockchain as an NFT

Synopsis of the NFT

The sale of the NFT will be for two components. The actual NFT certificate which will be a beautifully designed graphic. This image will be minted with the unique identifying bottle numbers and customs-and-excise seal numbers issued by the "Alfândega" (the Portuguese tax authority that monitors the sale of alcohol).

The second component is the actual physical object of the bottle itself that will contain 700 mililitres of exceptional quality rum. This bottle can then be shipped to the buyers physical address subject to their local laws permitting the importation of limited quantities of alcohol.

When that is not possible the bottle can be held in concierge with us (for up to six months under a concierge agreement) until an alternative destination address can be arranged to ship the bottle. Indeed, it may be of interest to the buyer to hold the bottle in concierge since they may want to resell it on a few weeks or months later.

The post sale management and processing of the shipping is a very complicated process since there are many countries that prohibit the import of alcohol into their jurisdiction. We can ship to nearly all countries in Europe (not including Norway or Russia), most states in the USA, and Japan.

There are other countries we cannot ship to like Canada, Australia and others becuase of the strict state controlled liquor authorities that are the only importers of alcohol for their citizens. We also will not ship to most countries where, for religious reasons, consumption of alcohol is prohibited. For example, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates. Then there are jurisdictions with unreliable shipping services such as Venezuela, South Africa and others. We will be posting a list of countries we can safely ship to in another article.

"Since the NFT sale implies two components it is possible in the future that they be resold as separate items. Usually, since it may be that the contents of the bottles are consumed. The NFT continues to survive as a separate piece of digital art."

On a final note, the sale of the Cardano Rum NFTs may be a harbinger of other more interesting sales of physical NFTS and their digital "double" on the Cardano network. We hope this pilot sale has a great rollout and trial run so that we can bring those projects to fruition. Especially in the area of rare wine collection.
